Childcare with Special Needs/Classroom Assistant

Course Title: Childcare with Special Needs/Classroom Assistant FETAC (NCVA) LEVEL 5 – AWARD DCHSC

Course Description:

This Course is designed to develop the communications, intellectual, practical and caring skills essential for people working with children. This Course offers an excellent foundation for people new to the study of Childcare and for those with limited practical experience.

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Child Development
  • Caring for Children 0-6 years
  • Working in Childcare
  • Special Needs
  • Safety & Health at Work/Social Studies
  • Communications
  • Work Experience
  • Word Processing

WORK EXPERIENCE: The Course provides training for Childcare workers in a wide range of settings including nursery, infant or primary schools or classes, day nurseries, family centres and the private and voluntary areas.

Certification:

Students on successful completion of the Course will receive a FETAC (NCVA) LEVEL 5 Award. Under the Higher Education Links Scheme, FETAC LEVEL 5 award holders may apply for reserved places on Courses in Social Care in the Institutes of Technology.

PLC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Leaving Certificate or Equivalent
  • Mature students accepted without Leaving Cert.
  • Interviews.

Maintenance Grants

Students taking PLC Courses are now eligible to apply for maintenance grants. These grants are means tested.

FEES

There are no Tuition Fees for PLC Courses. Examination fees, membership fees of professional bodies (where applicable) and other sundry items (course materials) are payable at various times throughout the academic year.
