Interior Design/Furniture Making

Course Title: Interior Design/Furniture Making

FETAC (NCVA) LEVEL 5 – AWARD AIDXX

Course Description:

To provide students with the necessary level of knowledge and skills which will enable them to acquire a qualification in Interior Design. Students build a portfolio of work and complete 80 hours work experience in related fields.

  • Drawing
  • Architectural Drawing
  • Design
  • Material & Finishes
  • Soft Furnishing
  • Colour & Light
  • Wood Craft/Furniture Making
  • Communications
  • Work Experience

Certification:

Students on successful completion of the Course will receive a FETAC (NCVA) LEVEL 5 Award.

Under the Higher Education Links Scheme, NCVA LEVEL 5 award holders may apply for reserved places on National Diploma Courses in Design (Industrial) and Design (Graphics) in the following Institutes of Technology: Dublin Institute of Technology, Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology, Letterkenny Institute of Technology, Sligo Institute of Technology.

Career Prospects

This Course will prepare students for employment in the field of Interior Design or further study.

PLC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Leaving Certificate or Equivalent
  • Mature students accepted without Leaving Cert.
  • Interviews.

Leaving Certificate standard or its equivalent with a keen interest in Interior Design.

Note: No previous experience needed for entry to course.

Maintenance Grants

Students taking PLC Courses are now eligible to apply for maintenance grants. These grants are means tested.

FEES

There are no Tuition Fees for PLC Courses. Examination fees, membership fees of professional bodies (where applicable) and other sundry items (course materials) are payable at various times throughout the academic year.
