Nursing Studies/Care Assistant

Course Title: Nursing Studies/Care Assistant Award (DCHSN)

Course Description:

This is a one-year full time course which gives students the opportunity to study different areas of nursing and the fields of Social Care, Paramedics and Childcare.

Course Content:

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Safety & Health at Work
  • Introduction to Nursing
  • Social Studies
  • Human Growth & Development
  • Word Processing
  • Communications
  • Work Experience

Certification:

Students will have the opportunity to sit FETAC (NCVA) Level 5 Examinations in Nursing Studies. (DCHSN)

PLC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Leaving Certificate or Equivalent
  • Mature students accepted without Leaving Cert.
  • Interviews.

Leaving Cert. or equivalent (mature students welcome)
Possibly an interview

Maintenance Grants

Students taking PLC Courses are now eligible to apply for maintenance grants. These grants are means tested.

FEES

There are no Tuition Fees for PLC Courses. Examination fees, membership fees of professional bodies (where applicable) and other sundry items (course materials) are payable at various times throughout the academic year.
